Stage 1 or Stage 2
To a detailer, after just 1 bad car wash that produces swirl marks and small scratches, a paint correction may be needed. If one is needed we look at the severity of the paints surface. Often times a 2 stage is performed but in reality a 1 stage correction would have done well.
In a Stage 1 correction, the vehicle will go through a polishing with one type of polish and pad. There is no applying of another polish. Stage 1 is for light swirl marks and scratches.
Stage 2 is for heavier scratches and swirl marks and involves using a more abrasive pad and polish to cut through the clear coat.
